White supremacy, Racism, and even slavery were under the American flag longer than they were under the Confederate flag. In fact, it persisted after the Confederates lost and the Federal government had both a mandate and the means to help former slaves, and Native Americans, but refused. Most of those waiving American flags are racist in some degree. Great article.
