Unfortunately, America has never truly had a Democracy. It has almost always been an Oligarchy ruled by influential wealthy people or corporations, and the military industrial complex.

Capitalism is the beginning of the problem, and its end will be the beginning of the end of the problem if we can avoid Fascism or some other totalitarian type of government.

We had a few bright spots where Democracy looked like it may bloom, but they were crushed by the ultra-wealthy and their servants in our government along with the war machine.
