Surfing Is Function Not Fashion

If you want to enjoy your surfing and be a part of surfing culture as it used to be, quit paying for faux products endorsed by Pro Surfers, or con artist.

One of the latest gimmicks in the modern surf industry, (a fashion industry mostly built upon gimmicks), has been surfboard or surfboard fins that were traditionally made by hand being produced by CNC machines overseas and marketed by using some former professional surfer’s name on the label.

Capitalist con artist have grabbed too much of the pie

Many of these CNC companies are located in countries where workers are paid slave labor and who know little to nothing about actual surfboard or fin designs. These companies and the surfers who push them pretend to be designers when too many of them have never shaped a surfboard or foiled a fin.

Even worse, many if not most of these designs were stolen from the real surf craftsmen who trusted these corporate entities with their designs, but who were unknowingly creating their own competitors by legitimizing the Corporate entity with their life’s work. A few years ago when CNC machines came out, some real surfboard shapers, and fin manufacturers sought for a way to streamline their long established businesses to supply…
