Quit Calling Confederates Traitors
The Civil War was a conflict between racists states
I do not support the Confederacy but neither do I support the traditional American system
I am with those who call the Confederacy traitors in spirit. I definitely do not defend the Southern brand of racism, the Confederacy, or the dishonest lost cause myth. Nor do I support the American racist caste system that has existed prior to and far beyond the Civil War. We should be honest about history. The civil war was a war between two white supremacist business ideologies, not one ideology fighting for good against another evil one. You can be a student of history seeking truth or you can be a reactionary espousing a popular notion. One of the problems with calling Confederates traitors is it was not clear in 1860 that the states did not have the legal right to leave the Union. If that is true, then the Confederates were only a different version of American white supremacy, not traitors.
