Pro-Life is only Marketing
The Evangelical church, Conservatives, and Republicans ignore the history of abortion and use pro-life as a marketing slogan.
Abortion came about in the Seventies because women were mistreated in the previous generations. Only women had to shoulder the responsibility of carrying a child, and the labels attached to them by men. During much of America’s history, women’s children could be taken from them and they could be placed in asylums by their husbands, or fathers. Town mobs would put unwed pregnant women out and the only work many could find was prostitution or something akin to slavery in the form of servitude, where they were often sexually abused. During these times women had few champions in society.
