Make up The Hedge, and Stand the Gap

Now more than ever is the time for the real Progressives to stand

In ancient times cities had walls around them, and if the walls were breached other nations could successfully invade a city and destroy it. I am not into manmade religion, but there is an old Bible passage that mentions this, with the idea being that even a single person could stand in a gap in a wall to defend the city against many and make a difference.

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none”

I have not been writing for the last month or so because I felt I needed deeper thought, more reading, and more study of the present situation in the United States and the world as I see it. Sadly, the conclusion I have come to, is aside from the natural and human created issues we face worldwide that could spell potential doom, human kind seems to be regressing from the brief moment of push to improve ourselves.

When I was a teen, I believed a percentage of the United States and world was striving to become more open minded and mindful of the plight of humanity and the negative affect caused by us humans since we crawled out of the jungle. Not that Capitalism, caste and supremacy were not still very present and powerful, but that a percentage of every race and culture were beginning to see things could be different and better.

Various forms of government have been tried and failed from tribal Chiefs and Monarchs to religions, or ideologies such as Capitalism, and Communism, and now what some call cancel culture. These systems failed or are failing because even if some were formed to better protect a specific group or ideology, they all ended up being about someone’s personal gain, and most still institute some form of hierarchy, caste or at the very least, an order of the peck.

Hierarchical groups such as caste, royalty, religion, and other forms of subjugation have always plagued humanity, but today we again have some who claim to be fighting for good, while they are doing and promoting evil.
