In his anutobiography Malcom observed his mother descend into mental instability from taking one too many hits from racism and the hardship black Americans faced during that period.
I have always believed there is quite a bit of mental damage within the black American community associated with being on the run, in fear of lynching, and seen as an other., etc. This went on in America for almost 300 years.
Imagine the pain, anguish and PTSD that must be associated with living this way and passed down. One of the last officially claimed KKK killing happened in 1981, not 1961 or 1861. Great article.
