Howard,
I appreciate your comments. Please read my articles on this subject. You will find we are in complete agreement. I believe you misread the intent of my words. I will take responsibility for not making it more clear. The intent is to show, Lincoln was no civil rights leader, and the rest of white America was no better than the Confederacy when it came to how they treated black America. None should get a pass.
I have written before black people have known this for years, but the myth of Lincoln the kindly lover of black America persist. He does have a statue in the Capital. I stand by my statement they did not give a fuck about the union, but money, power, and caste. Lincoln and his war do get a pass as some sort of civil rights action rather than a power grab.
The Union, represented a white power structure, and greedy Capitalist wanted to control more than they had prior to the Civil War. Letting the South go would have cost them huge export dollars. How could they keep those exports, remain on good trading terms with Europe and the world, and install a new power structure? By a war forcing the issue in the name of righteousness.
Black people did not even gain basic human rights until the Civil Rights Act of 1964. America still had a white supremacist immigration policy until the Immigration Act of 1965. On tRump, sadly more than the South voted for the man, but his main area of support to this day is still the Deep South. In my view, most of black America has never bought into the idea most white people in America care about them.
I have no overall issue with Mr. Wise. He has consistently posted articles against white supremacy. I disagree with some of the ideas about Lincoln.
