I am sorry, but this statement is typical church speak. I have heard it preached many times while I was in churches where pastors ruled over their congregations. I am not suggesting this is you, but I have seen it often.

There is no proof there is even an office of a pastor as the organized church exists today. Church in America is a business and political lobby group. It does not serve the poor or the needs of the vulnerable, but builds buildings and backs political interest.

Most pastors I see today chide about drinking, dress, music, schools, church attendance, and Republican politics along with the worship of Trump. The Bible says to test the spirits, and it says to beware of false prophets.

The vast majority of pastors in America today are false prophets if you believe the word and have studied Church history because the majority teach dispensationalism which is a false version of Christianity and is cult like.

Many of the rest are also Calvinist and obsessed with Calvin who was O.K. with murder and torture by church authority.

The qualifications of an overseer:

1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV / 48 helpful votes Helpful Not HelpfulThe saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

Who is to judge this if not the believers in the church? above reproach is a big deal.

I do agree that with church or any other organization there should not be petty criticisms based on personal prejuces, ambitions, or resentments, but Pastors, and other leaders should be questioned and evaluated continually because of human nature to get too comfortable in power.
