Great points. I modified my first response to exclude the word moron. That was harsh and divisive which was not my goal. I still believe he should rethink his statement. For me, real cultural appropriation is taking something as your own that belongs to someone else. Not doing it well with the art form.
There is no doubt Rock and Rock was culturally appropriated back in the 50s, but that cat is out of the bag and there is no putting creativity and muse back in once the influence takes root.
