Good article, William.

Lincoln was fine wiping out what was left of Native Americas as was the Confederacy early on. The Republicans were never about equality of blacks and whites, they just used language and tactics to out flank their competition. Look at the statue of Lincoln as the great emancipator with the black American cowering under the white savior.

The fact that the Federal government and Republicans could not, and truly did not have a will to follow through on forty acres and a mule along with defeating the Klan with an army and a mandate to carry it out, clearly shows none of the white leadership of that era were heroes. It took something close to another war and more bloodshed to finally begin to chip away at black segregation in 1964. The same year the Dixiecrats started becoming Republicans.

Black Americans have had to continually fight to be accepted and that has not ended in 2022. There are and has always been white allies, but they have rarely if ever been in the upper caste or prevalent in our Capitalist society. Americans love money, easy living, and war. Few are concerned with their fellow citizens.

The real problem with caste societies is even those groups who are persecuted sometimes seek to be in the upper caste rather than destroy the system that enslaved them. This is why you had black slave owners, Native Americans being the last of the Confederacy to surrender, and some Jews in prominent roles in the Confederate government (Secretary of State) and champions of slavery.

Where money and power are concerned, Americans are a perverted lot. Founded on slavery and still has a slave owner mentality.
