From my reading, they realized they were naked because it was not a bite or a fruit, but a seduction. This is mentioned elsewhere in the Bible. When you see it as a seduction (beguiled) you see it is typical human behavior that haunts mankind today. In my view it was more than wanting something because they were told they could not have it. The serpent was that old serpent the devil.
