I am with you in spirit, but the reason is because not as many people would watch and the league would go under. They would not have as many ticket sales or advertisers. The cities would not give many of the special perks they give franchise owners to build stadiums, etc. It is driven by the consumer of sports entertainment.
Keep in mind, I am against all predatory capitalism and no longer watch sports, but how would you suggest the owners of the franchises be forced to pay the same when the women's basketball League does not bring the same amount of ticket sales without going out of business? I am open to your suggestion.
