America was founded on slavery, and caste, not Democracy or in truth not really about being a Democratic Republic. It was a Confederacy before they joined the Constitution and there were a few presidents prior to George Washington.

Non property owners, and women could not vote, much less people of color and those Americans committed genocide against native Americans.

There was child labor, and conscription slavery so Americans were forced to fight in wars for profit or hegemony that did not benefit them.

You can quote dictionary definitions all you want, but there is what the dictionary says something is and what it actually is in practice.

The Constitution failed in less than a hundred years and ended in Civil War and it has been failing people of color, women, children, and immigrants for years and still is failing.
