A Message to Would be Revolutionaries and Their Supporters

General Grant stated the truth about revolt, and it is a hard pill to swallow

Now, the right of revolution is an inherent one. When people are oppressed by their government, it is a natural right they enjoy to relieve themselves of the oppression, if they are strong enough, either by withdrawal from it, or by overthrowing it and substituting a government more acceptable. But any people or part of a people who resort to this remedy, stake their lives, their property, and every claim for protection given by citizenship — on the issue. Victory, or the conditions imposed by the conqueror — must be the result.

The message to Palestinians or any group, who right or wrong, feel they need to revolt should be clear. You were born with the right to resist or revolt against something you consider oppression. You have allies who identify with your suffering, and you have some who claim to be allies who are just using your conflict to vent their hatred for Jews. However, you should understand that Israel and the Jewish people also have allies and Israel is a military superpower with the backing of the United States government.

The thing to consider, as I know many Palestinians have, once you poke a tiger, why would you expect anything for yourselves or your people other than harsh reprisals? The Reasons for the actions whether justified or not do not matter. Once violence start wars, it is only about victory or defeat, and the victors will write history. This is how it has always been, and this is how it will be for this conflict or others like it. If a God is real, I see no proof that a God of goodness is with either side in this war. All I see is misery, suffering, and death.
