Evangelical Support For Kyle Rittenhouse is Rooted in Racism
Conservative Christian support of Kyle Rittenhouse as a hero is covert support for the legacy of white supremacy
Sadly, one of the places in America you find white entitlement, racism, and delusion at its worst, is among white evangelicals who should be the ones standing with the vulnerable rather than supporting the power structure which persecutes them. Unfortunately, evangelicals have a power structure of their own and give millions in support to maintain white supremacy as lapdogs for the Republican party and corporate capitalism. Evangelical organizations are steeped in white entitlement and paternalistic language concerning race and oppression.
They still espouse racist tropes, defend racism, sexism, xenophobia, and homophobia as traditional American values. There are many examples but if you want a recent example of how many of them think, read their words on the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Many Evangelicals can barely contain their glee at the shooting and some label him a hero smiting the evils of black lives matter and communism. Again, this is nothing new for white evangelical churches in America, it is part of their history since the beginning.
